We’ve been covering a lot of drag racing lately and decided to mix it up a bit by spending the weekend at Sonoma Raceway with cars that brake and turn quickly. Shaun Burgess is the owner of this 1966 Mustang we featured in the October 2013 issue of Car Craft. Shaun is also the owner of Street or Track, a Michigan-based company specializing in suspension and brake parts for early Mustangs. Before moving to Detroit to set his company up, Sonoma was Shaun’s home track. Since he recently finished his Mustang, he wanted to run it again on Sonoma’s twisting, 2.5-mile circuit during the NorCal Shelby American Automobile Club’s Mini Nats on August 6 -7, 2016. It was a fun and productibe weekend for us, too, as we got to photograph all the action on track, ride with Shaun until we almost barfed, and meet Martin Pond and his amazing, sleepy 1980 Mercury Zephyr race wagon!
