It was described to us as “the Bristol for New England drivers.” The First Annual New England Short Track Showdown took place this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, giving an opportunity for drivers from the Northeast to get a taste of the 1.058-mile facility in Louden, NH.
Promoted by Bob Guptill of the the Northeast Mini Stock Tour, the event featured the Granite State Pro Stock Series, Valenti Modified Racing Series, and Street Stock Showdown Series, and the aforementioned NE Mini Stock Tour.
Top-tier veteran Eddie MacDonald captured another resume-boosting win in the Pro Stock feature – his tenth at NHMS. Defending PASS North Champion D.J. Shaw was Second and Matt Swanson was Third.
In the Modifieds, standout Mod racer Woody Pitkat was victorious. Pitkat had to fend off the likes of many veteran Mod racers, including Ted Christopher, who finished Second. Steve Maase rounded out the final podium position.
Justin Trombley faced challenges from Pitkat and Cody LeBlanc, but held on to take the win in the NE Mini Stock Tour main event.
Corey Hutchings topped the 30-lap Street Stock Showdown Series feature.
