It’s over. The 65th Annual Meguiar’s Detroit Autorama with its nearly 900 display vehicles are moved out, the floors are swept, and the lights are turned off at the famed Cobo Hall in downtown Detroit. Look back and the lights are even turned off! As they say, “The party is over! But the memories are just starting.”

Detroit has long been known as Motor City and for good reason with many of the OEM’s housed in close proximity to Cobo Hall. But it’s the world of hot rods and custom cars that has truly made Detroit exciting come every late February or early March. The ideas, talent and execution of workmanship are second to known for this show and the hot rodding world knows it. The Ridler clearly is as prestigious of an award as there can be.

We know who the Pirelli Great 8 are beginning with Robby Collins from Ft. Collins, Texas, with his 1949 Chevy pickup (custom build and dark brown); Ted Hubbard from South Bend, Nebraska, with his 1930 Ford Model A highboy coupe; Bobby Jordan from Portland, Oregon, with his 1933 Ford highboy roadster (maroon and black); Larry and Robbie Griffey of Powell, Tennessee, with their 1954 Corvette (brilliant red); Scott Roth from S. Burlington, Vermont, with his 1966 Corvette (widened 6 inches); George Poteet from Memphis, Tennessee, with his oh so mile deep black 1932 Ford highboy sedan; Ed Sears from Annapolis, Maryland, with his 1941 Ford pickup; and Dennis Portka from Hamburg, New York, with his 1929 Ford pickup.

And from the PG8 the eventual Don Ridler Memorial Award winner is selected and we now know who that is. Taking home the honors were owners Buddy Jordan and Steve Frisbie of Steve’s Auto Restoration out of Portland, Oregon. Their fendered and removable hardtop 1933 Ford roadster, actually comprised of many handmade panels is called the Renaissance Roadster. The design for the car came from the pen and paper of Chris Ito with additional inspiration from Steve himself and then built at Steve’s shop.

Well, for funs and giggles we thought it would be cool to show off every display vehicle we could find as a sort of wrap up to this year’s Detroit Autorama. So we did…850-plus photos should just about cover everything that was in the show. Now it would just be our luck that if we say we photo’ed every car, truck, etc…in the show we would come up missing something. So, let’s just say we gave it our best shot and covered a bunch. Sit back and enjoy.
