Congratulations to Taylor Jorgensen of Stockbridge, Georgia – our Sunoco Race Fuels Young Racers Club Winner for the month of February!
Taylor will receive a drum of race fuel and a 5 gallon utility jug from Sunoco. She will also appear in the July 2017 issue of Circle Track. Take a few moments to read about Taylor and her journey below.
Taylor Jorgensen was hooked on racing before she ever ran her first race, spending time at the track with her father, Jason, who ran Legends at Atlanta Motor Speedway. At 11 years old she ran her first race in a Bandolero, and as the saying goes “The rest is history.” Or rather, Taylor has been making history ever since.
By the time she moved out of Bandolero’s and into Legends, Taylor racked up enough wins to take the record for most overall wins by a female driver at Atlanta Motor Speedway, a record she holds to this day. In 2012, she won 28 out of the 42 she entered across the country and tied for the national championship.
Taylor moved to Legend Cars in 2013 and found instant success by becoming Georgia’s Rookie of the Year. Her 2014 season led her to a Georgia State Championship and a finish of 5th nationally in points, the highest finish by a female.
In 2016, Taylor moved from Legends racing, with an impressive resume of wins, championships and track records, to make her start in the Pro Truck Series at the famed 5 Flags Speedway. A young lady, who prior to practice for the first race had never passed another truck in her No. 3 Chevrolet, not only impressed her competitors and the fans, but once again added her name in the record books. In her Pro Truck Debut, Taylor became the first female to ever win a Pro Truck race at Five Flags.
Battling against some of the best Pro Truck racers in the country, Taylor won 3 out of 6 races in the 2016 season. Ending the season with five podium finishes, Taylor became the first female to win a Pro Truck Championship at 5 Flags Speedway. At the 49th annual Snowball Derby, she finished the year off strong with a 2nd place in the Pro Truck feature that had a record 36 starters.
